ACTION PACKED WEEKEND AHEAD!!

17-10-2006

If you are wondering what to do this weekend, there is plenty on offer in the amateur scene.

First stop Newbury, where the ladies battle it out in the last ladies flat race of the season for the championship title which is to be fought between current ladies’ champion and table leader Serena Brotherton and, only 4 points behind her, Lorraine Ellison.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in the US, our FEGENTRI lady representative Faye Bramley will be riding in Laurel Park on Thursday, followed by rides in Meadowlands, Charles Town and Philadelphia Park. Simon Walker, our 2005/2006 Champion All Weather Amateur Jockey, will be accompanying her to represent Great Britain.

Our gentleman FEGENTRI representative, Matty Smith, fresh from 2 wins within the last 5 days at Ludlow and Plumpton respectively, will be riding in the last Fegentri gentlemen’s races of the season at Baden-Baden in Germany.

And on Sunday, the AJA are supporting Spinal Injuries by co-ordinating a charity race to be held at 5.20 pm at Wincanton. Riders taking part are: recent Newmarket Town Plate winning jockey Charlie Duckworth as well as Rowan Duke, Richard Evans (son of trainer Dave) making his debut racecourse appearance, Diana and Katherine Hobbs (daughters of trainer Philip), Kim Jones, Jacq Malone, Justin Newman making the long journey from Yorkshire, Vicky Phelan, Arron Ryan, Helen Williams and Abigail White. Good luck to all the jockeys! If you would like to make a contribution to this fantastic day which is in aid of Spinal Injuries and the local St Margaret’s Hospice, please send a cheque (made out to SIA) to the AJA. Many thanks.
