THRILLING NEWBURY FINISH SEES LADIES FIGHT IT OUT FOR THE TITLE!

Many congratulations to Serena Brotherton on retaining her Amateur Lady Flat Jockey Championship title for 2006 after a nail biting finish to the season.

Lorraine Ellison was always going easily on Great View for Annabelle King but Serena Brotherton on David Elsworth’s Acknowledgement always had them in her sights and, having held her horse up, started to close the gap from half way up the straight. Serena did not quite make it to be first past the post but by finishing second in this race, both girls tied on 80 points for the championship. With Serena having six wins this season and Lorraine now enjoying her fifth, the final tally of wins secured Serena her second consecutive championship for the Flat.

Many congratulations to everyone who has enjoyed the winners’ enclosure this season and especially to both Lorraine and Serena who have given us all such a spectacular finale.
